Re: Carbs - Solex PHH 44

    Hey Arnie;

I'll take a look. I also have some in a bag I'll take a look at.

I'm going to ping Fritz Wallner and see what he has to say about all of this.

Re: Carbs - Solex PHH 44

I checked the other two, no '44 PHH' stamp. So out of 10, 6 do not have it.

Re: Carbs - Solex PHH 44

Interesting observation! I had never noticed that. I just checked mine: out of 8, 4 do not have the stamp. I have two more, but they're up on the hoist attached to the car right now ... :)

Re: No start and running out of ideas

I was hoping that might have been it. I was stunned at the time. BTW, that same NGK tech told me one cannot properly clean 'well fouled' plugs. I don't try anymore, I simply replace.

Re: No start and running out of ideas

Hi Jeff, try chaning your plugs.

Twice now, I’ve had plugs fouled enough the car would not start – at all. I had what I thought was great spark on all plugs. I tried everything I could think of...

    Re: Mystery: Valve cover

Thanks Gerry; so early in '56 it was already changed which jives with the other photo I posted (second one above). So now, we just need owners with very early cars, pre 6500870 chassis numbers, to...

    Re: Mystery: Valve cover

As Marc points out above, there were a number of changes to these covers. It would be nice to be able to put together a timeline.

I thought perhaps the banjo disappeared with engine side-cover...

    Re: Mystery: Valve cover

Gerry, what year is your car? Your valve cover appears to be identical in all aspects to the MB factory photo (attached), at least from the parts I can see in your photo ... except it has a banjo...

    Re: Brake bleeding

This is a first for me, i.e. replacing the brake fluid. The brakes were working fine, but the fluid has not been changed in 8 years or so, so it’s high time.
    I purchased a vacuum pump.

    I’ve run...
