Re: Cold call from new member

I, too, received a voice message from "Larry" with the same request. Did not return the call. The call came to my fax/answering machine which we never answer.

    Re: Clearance switch removal

Bill, I noticed the same issue when I took switches and lower instruments out for access to the tachometer. You are correct. This switch is either in the right position or the left position. The...

    Re: electronic ignition

I think a significant advantage to the 1-2-3 distributor is that you start with a whole new distributor rather than a worn one.
  4. Re: Adjusting Linkages to Idle stop verse WOT stop

Jeff, you may not have noticed but the rear carburetor sits a little higher than the front. The linkages from carb to the overhead shaft are somewhat different. I don't have Webers so listen to...

    Re: electronic ignition

I,too, have electronic ignition, Pertronix in this case. Eliminates contact points forever. Mounts inside the distributor so is hidden. Like it very much.

    Re: Window gap

I just finished putting new fuzzy strips on my doors. These almost meet at the very front and rear of the door and there is a definite gap between the strips in the middle of the door. Yours may be...

    Re: Window gap

Orada, I see the arrows in your picture but I don't quite understand the problem. The window is curved, of course. Adjustments are at the top and bottom of each window guide. Are you thinking that...
  8. Re: Rear engine mount bolt spinning freely - nut broke loose from rubber.

I bought mounts this spring from Tom Hanson at the Classic Center. Yes, right and left looked different but front and rear on each side are the same.
  9. Re: Soft Mounts - Thackeray Washers seem to have been dropped

    Thanks, Jeff

Hi: I need to replace a broken left inner door lock, small round switch with a toggle to and fro. Appears to be made of pot metal. Thanks,

    Re: Ignition switch repair

Jim, I remember reading that item in the forum posts some time ago but it is too advanced for my talents. I rather doubt that there is someone around here who knows how to do that. And costs less...

    Re: Ignition switch repair

Freddy, I think many of us have the same problems. Graphite lock lubricant helps a little but don't force the key. I just move the key in and out with moderate pressure until it finally turns. Pain...

    Re: Heater Valve

As has been noted before, the top end of a used spark plug has the same 4mm dimension as the tool. Screw the spark plug into the valve upside down and the ceramic insulator is the handle. I...

Re: Motor mounts for mismatched engine

I changed motor mounts just before the Santa Fe trip. Tom Hanson has these. There are two part numbers, one for the left and one for the right. Front and rear of each are the same part numbers.

Re: I have broken the temperature bulb

The second photo shows the third leg facing down which is correct. Light fixtures are properly placed. This is a hard fit but it all works. I just did this about two weeks ago. Tach started...

    Re: Weber - Linkage angle

Dave and Jim: Thank you. I think I have the right hand die but, of course, not a left handed one. I found these through the Internet but they are about $50. I am also trying to get some hydraulic...

    Re: Weber - Linkage angle

Somewhat the same issue with lengths of control rods for Mikuni linkage. What I want to do is buy control rods of different lengths for both the vertical rod and the two carburetor rods to find the...
  22. Re: Sync Webers by passage of butterflies over progressive holes

The Aussies, like the Brits, have a few different words than do Americans. "Torch" is a "Flashlight." Two countries divided by a common language.

John, thank you for that information.
  25. Re: 123 Ignition: Pre-set or Programmable?

Johannes, we just returned from the 190SL Group meeting in Santa Fe. Great time, by the way, but my car didn't perform well at altitude. Additionally, I find it hard to set timing as the marked line...
