    Re: Rear axles are out...

No, because I did not remove the left one.
I will remove the right one again to see where is the obstruction.

After removal, I found that the bearing thickness was 23 mm instead of 18 mm....

    Re: Rear axles are out...

Not at the end of the job!
The bearing stopped to travel at 3/16” off the back plate. I think the bearing is too wide. Is somebody knows or can find the thickness for this barrel roller bearing?...

    Re: Rear axles are out...

Tip to skip wobbling for hours trying to insert the bearing into the rear right axle, i used longer M7x1mm bolts (3) and push the bearing with the brake back plate. Turning the bolts a quarter of a...

    Re: Rear axles are out...

    Thanks, I will try that!

With part 53 at the bottom, the axle slides easily. The most difficult task is to lodge the bearing inside the housing. It must be parallel all the time, not yet capable....

    Re: Rear axles are out...

I change my question, not getting an answer.
When it is time to to insert the right axle, what I have to do to ensure the shaft will mate with the differential. It seems to block 3 inches ahead of...

Re: Motor mounts for mismatched engine

It seems that an old motor mount is squeezed after time under load. Found this picture from Ponton website.

Re: Motor mounts for mismatched engine

Thanks Mark, but my question is why my original front motor mounts are near half an inch shorter than the one available on the market. Owning an early 1956, the rear support is under the transmission.

    Re: Rear axles are out...

I had no choice to remove the right axle, the roller bearing did not do the job, a spherical roller bearing is needed. This is what I installed, but reinstalling the axle seems a hard task. Where I...

Re: Motor mounts for mismatched engine

Having my alternator removed, I noticed that the right motor mount on my 1956 is the wrong one, the slots in the rubber allow movements thru the radiator instead of sideways. My 1960 engine being off...

Re: I have broken the temperature bulb

Sorry for you. You have to get it repaired or buy a new unit. There are at least five for sale on EBay USA.
But if your engine was not overheating previously, no reasons not to drive her, but when...
  17. Re: Master brake cylinder/ replace or rebuild?

I had a hard time to open my master brake cylinder in order to rebuilt it. This is stuck and I use to push grease thru an opening to free it. Air is not sufficient. On my last one, I did not find on...
  18. Re: Disc brakes has anyone converted to these?

I have disc brakes on my Fintail 230, 1967, but I know they had them on 1963. Conversion on 190sl is problematic, you have to go to 14” wheels to clear the calipers but the worse is because our...

Re: what is the carbie setup in the 190sl ?

No, the engine number and the VIN is not the same for the last digits, but relatively close. A previous owner was probably tired of the Solexes and found a cheap way to keep his engine running.

    Similar design

This Renault Fregate was created in 1953, 2 years prior to the 190 sl. Very similar to the first 1955 except for the eyebrows.
