Re: Any Interest in a European 190SL Event

I've been asked for more details about the 190 SL Days in Davos in June so here is some more information.

The 190 SL Days event in Davos, Switzerland is planned from June 18 to 21, 2020.

    Here are the details:

When: Thursday 18th to Sunday 21st of June 2020

Who: Around 70 Mercedes-Benz SLs from various nations (190 SL only)

Where: Hotel Ameron, Davos - https://ameronhotels.com/de/davos-sw...untain-resort/

How: we will split in groups of about ten 190 SLs and tour through the wonderful mountains

Costs: CHF 1800 per car (About US$1850.00) This will include hotel, meals etc. for two I think.

I am preparing an itinerary that will include Stuttgart and the Mercedes-Benz Museum, the Classic Center in Fellbach, factory tours etc. either before or after.

The organizers will have more information when I see them in Stuttgart in October.

I'm thinking that we fly into Zurich a day or so in advance. We will have to rent cars for a week or so since we will need cars to travel around Davos. The cost is about $300 and up. After the event we'll drive back to Zurich and take the train to someplace between Zurich and Stuttgart to break up the trip possibly Lake Konstanz. Then we'll train to Stuttgart for the museum, classic center etc. for a few days. We will take the train to Frankfurt for the flight home. Of course one could just fly back from Zurich.

    I'm looking forward to it.

Re: Any Interest in a European 190SL Event

I received more information about the Davos event today from the organizers. They indicate that they may be able to arrange for cars for us in Switzerland. More will be forthcoming by the end of October:

We are delighted that there is so much interest from your side too! Thank you!

Regarding cars for the international group we will check with Mercedes-Benz Switzerland and members if they can help as soon as we have the number of cars needed.

It would make sense to combine your trip to Davos with Sindelfingen (factory tour) and the Mercedes-Benz museum.

We are still negotiating with partners and sponsors. However, we have a more clear picture today (initial estimation CHF 1800 per car). The final offer will be ready by mid October.

Our offer includes today (to be confirmed with final offer):

    - 3 nights (4 days) in the Ammern hotel, Davos - arrival 18th of June & departure 21st of June

    - Guest Card Davos Klosters providing price reductions - such as free travel on all mountain railways

    - All meals, Thursday night until Sunday morning ( Lunches & Dinners: Hotel Ameron, Alpenhof (horse and carriage), WEF-Congess Center ...)

    - Swiss Mineral water (no alcohols)

    - Welcome coffee (first day)

    - Indoor Parking

    - Security for all 190 SLs (security including dog)

    - Evening Program

    - Roadbook, Rally-Plaque

    - Selection of 7 Rallys - Groups of ten 190 SLs (Guarda, Scuol, Sent, Val MŁstair, Zuoz, BergŁn, Val Poschiavo)

    - Corso Davos - Sunday morning

    - MB Service Support and Spare parts (made available)

    - Giveaways - Malbuner. Mal Besser ...

    - Swiss Coupon Pass - value CHF 4’500.- (several discounts for various hotels, goods, gifts etc.)

2 people CHF 2’250.- (to be confirmed with final offer) (about $2,266)

1 person CHF 1’890.- (to be confirmed with final offer) (about $1,890)

This will be a wonderful opportunity to discover a particularly charming part of Switzerland. We hope you will still be interested despite the strong Swiss franc - Switzerland remains a good place to invest! Kindly let us know if you have questions or wishes. We will do our best to make your stay unforgettable.

    Best wishes,

    Michael Pulfer & Christian Haltner

Re: Any Interest in a European 190SL Event

    Hi All,

I'm back from Stuttgart after a very interesting meeting of representatives of 67 Mercedes-Benz clubs from 40 countries.

There was a presentation from the Mercedes-Benz Veteranen Club Schweiz and the Mercedes-Benz SL Club Schweiz who are organizing the event in Davos.

They are suggesting a choice of seven routes out of Davos each day. Each one with stupendous views and challenging roads. Each group of cars will be no more than 10.

I've changed my suggested itinerary a bit:

Sunday June 14: Fly from U.S. to arrive in Frankfurt on Monday June 15

Monday June 15: Rent cars and drive to Stuttgart (about 2 hours); Visit the Mercedes-Benz Museum if you are not too tired. Dinner at the Museum? Stay at the V8 Hotel in Boblingen: https://www.v8hotel.de/en/sleeping/ and browse the wares of the many classic car sales companies there.

Tuesday June 16: Tour the Sindelfingen car factory or the Unterturkheim engine plant, the Classic Center in Fellbach (possibly get into the "Holy Rooms" where they keep over 1,100 classic, racing and vintage cars), and if time allows AMG where we can watch them make AMG engines - one man (women too) make one engine. Lunch and diner TBD; V8 Hotel again.

Wednesday June 17: Morning on your own (sneak over to the Porsche Museum). In the afternoon drive the Autobahn to Lake Constance (about 2 hours) and overnight there.

Thursday June 18: Drive to Davos (about 1 and 1/2 hours) for an evening welcome reception at the hotel.

Friday June 19: The first driving day around Davos; dinner at the hotel.

Saturday June 20: Driving day two; dinner at the hotel

Sunday June 21: Driving day three and leave the Davos area for Zurich (about 2 and 1/2 hours)

Monday June 22: Fly back to the States.

I have the names of about 20 members and partners who expressed interest in this trip.

Please send a private message to me with your email so I can keep in touch. Perhaps we can have a conference call to talk about the specifics.

Just to let you know that booking is now open for this event. Click on the flag, top right, for different languages. You will be able to choose from 7 different excursions for day one and day two. Payment is by credit card this time.

I have no involvement in the organisation of this! For US participants, I assume that Paul will be coordinating attendance.

    See you there!

Re: Any Interest in a European 190SL Event

I have my other Mercedes stored in the Stuttgart region and would be interested to participate in 190 SL events in that region. I also have good connections to the German Mercedes Club and specifically their representation in Swabia. I am am sure we could cooperate with them and get some amazing drives and events together. If initiating this early enough and through the right channels we might even get a behind the scenes tour at the Classic Center and visit potentially the factory collection which is usually off limits.

Paul it looks like you have taken the initiative and are organizing a potential pre or post event around Stuttgart?
