    If the car was prior to mid-July 1957, those are the correct license plate lights. They went to the smaller bumper mount then.

    Yes, my '57 has rear body mounted license plate lights, but these appear incorrect.

    Look at another perspective ;-)

    Not sure what you are seeing and maybe I'm missing the point. The only license plate differences I know of are the larger body mount, pre mid 1957 and the smaller bumper mount lights on the later models.

    Mark,

    I have the body mount lights on my car and the ones pictured are different from the ones I have. Look at the picture I attached I circled 2 small tabs that come off the bottom of these light. Ours don't have this. I think this is what folks are talking about not being the correct lights

    The lights with tabs are technically incorrect for a 190 SL. Those lights were originally mounted on the trunk lid of an MB sedan. Tabs are finger pulls to aid in opening the trunk. (Saw this arrangement on a 190 SL at the Convention)
