    Club Picture Gallery

I have been playing with a picture gallery software package called "Gallery". It provides a capability to easily upload pictures and make them available online quickly and easily. My thoughts are to allow anyone with pictures to upload and title them for all of us to enjoy. The process is easy and I am looking for a couple of members who have some pictures to share and have the curiosity to give it a try. If you are interested, send me an email (betty@whro.net) and I will create a login for you so that you can give it a try.

You can click here to view the "190SL Gallery"

    Any thoughts?

Jim,cool idea. What size, resolution works best, without overloading the site? Can we attach text?
    Thanks, Bill

Bill ... Yes, you can easily add captions and text to each picture. The software automatically resizes the pictures and creates the thumbnails. I'll set you up a login and let you give it a try.

Jim - This is a very cool addition. I'd would encourage everyone who plans on attending the Sonoma convention to take advantaqe of this feature. They can post a few pics and story of their cars so that we can start to "get to know" members that we will be meeting in the wine country.

I have played with the Gallery and I am fairly impressed. I loaded a remote tool on my PC that allowed me to cut/past, sort and position, add captions etc and then upload the pictures to the Gallery. It is also possible to nest albums under albums and to change or update the structure as required.

Again, my thoughts are not to replace the picture story section but to add a facility for "other" pictures. Either you can add them yourself or mail me a CD and I can create an album for you, upload your pictures and then you can add the captions.

A while back, Joe Amaro send me a CD with pictures of his car during the restoration process. This morning I uploaded them to the 190SL Gallery . This is more of my concept for the Gallery, to make lots of pictures available, not necessarly just the few "best".

I added a lot of new pictures to our Gallery; including Joe's track time with Mario.

I posted twenty pictures from Bill Lamb and his 190SSE in the Gallery.

Kosta .... If you would pick 20 of your most interesting pictures and either mail or email them to me, I'll put them up on our Gallery.

Jim - On the CD I sent you, I included a copy of the story about the car. Clearly, it's not the proper format for the gallery. If enough are interested, is it proper to post it somewhere? Bruce Adams has an earlier version, and when Robby Ackerman was here a few weeks back, I gave him the latest.

    What do you think?

BTW: When and how do I mail in dues for this year?

Jim, where has been gone the gallery?
    Hopefully it's down only temporarily.
Did I miss some changes here? Everytime when clicking the link I get some malfunction messages.

This gallery of course is (was) one of my favorites.

The Gallery was polluted by spam (hundreds a day) and I couldn't find a way to prevent it or to remove the thousands of spam posts. Sorry.

The proverb "a rotten apple spoils the barrel", comes from a 14th-century Latin proverb & is still true today. The first recorded use was in Benjamin Franklin's Poor Richard's Almanack (1736).
Wonder if they called it "SPAM" back then?
