190SL Group Road Trip to Mullin Auto Museum–Oxnard, CA 10/22/2011

For those of you who joined us in July at the Lyon Museum and BBQ, you may remember some discussion about a possible drive north to the Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard (previously owned by Otis Chandler)
At this point we're targeting Saturday, October 22 for a take-off date.

Our thinking is to leave the Orange County area early Saturday morning about 8:00a.m. (405 to the 10 to PCH) having lunch along PCH (maybe the Malibu area) and getting to the museum for the 12:30-3:00 time slot.
After the museum we'd like to continue our drive north to the Santa Barbara area where we will stay for the evening. We're considering the Fess Parker Doubletree Hotel, (same hotel we stayed at during our drive north after the 2008 190 SL convention) We are open for other suggestions, if any of you have experience at other hotel spots in the SB area.

For those that would like to continue the drive on Sunday, we're considering a driving loop north over the 154 (San Marcos Pass) to Los Olivos, having lunch and maybe visiting a few of the local wineries as we head back south on the 101, staying Sunday night back in SB and returning home Monday. Some may prefer to forgo the Sunday drive and head home Sunday morning.

For those joining us from the LA & Ventura county areas, let us know if you'd like to jump in on the drive up.

    Things we need to know:
    • Will you be joining us? How many?
    • For one night or two?
    • We'll confirm the Hotel accommodations in a follow-up email. (you don't need to make hotel reservations yet)
    • We've already made reservations at the Mullin Musuem, cost is $10 for general admission, $7 for seniors (no need to buy online - cash at the door)
    – As a car club they will be reserving a special parking area for us.

    Nor Cal folks
Please let us know if you'd like to join in.

Please RSVP no later than 10/7

Thought I'd post a few photos and thank all that attended our group drive to the Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, CA.
A world class museum filled with an incredible collection of French automobiles from the 30's deco era. This will definitely be on the "must visit again" list for next year.
After the museum tour we continued on to Santa Barbara, where we all enjoyed walking, shopping and dining on State Street, along with discussing all things 190 SL. Sunday included a back road drive through the Santa Ynez Valley, taking in a winery or three!
The 190 SL line-up photos were taken at the Alma Rosa Winery (winery location featured in the movie "Sideways")

    Thanks again to all!
