    Southern After the Ball

So, I want to make a pitch for this tour. It will be very pleasant drive through southwest Virginia, with a visit to the D-Day memorial in Bedford. This is a very moving memorial in a town that lost the highest percentage of its population in the D-Day invasion.

We will then drive to Galax for the evening. Galax is on the Crooked Road (Virginia's heritage music trail) and is one of the centers of live blue grass music. Friday night in Galax is special, the local Rex movie theater was converted to a stage where they have blue grass concerts every friday night, broadcast on the radio throughout the appalachian region.

David Preston has then mapped a route for us north over "driving" roads with a couple of interesting stops to the Hotel Roanoke. This is another special stop; this tutor style hotel was built in 1882 and is a magnificent relic of the days when Roanoke was a major rail city.

This will be a wonderful tour of a special part of Virginia and a tour not to be missed. Join us, there is plenty of time to change your plans and reservations.
