    Re: Weber Jetting for Altitude

Tim .... I think that the article is a little aggressive for our cars. When I at the convention in Santa Fe, I just dropped my idle jets by one step and it ran great over the 10K passes.

    Re: Carb Bodies

Greg .... I use Eastwood Carb-Renew 2 silver on my carburetors. It is the correct color, looks good and is resistant to "everything" including gas and carb spray.

    Re: King Pin Grease Fitting

Jack ... You drill and thread a new grease fitting hole and then plug the hole on the top. What you are working with is the later version of the king pin that was used on a large number of other...

The board and I have been monitoring the evolution of the covid-19 epidemic for the past two weeks. As its seriousness became apparent, Mary Anne began working on convention alternatives, including...

    Re: Experience R & R Solex Carbs

I install mine like Greg described. I use a 1/4 inch socket and extension to tighten the nuts. The 3/8 socket and extension is just too bulky.

    Re: Windshield replacement

Francisco ... If water is weeping through the corner of the rubber, you can pull open the corner with a pick and squeeze in some of the 3M stuff that I mentioned above. If it is weeping through the...

    Re: Windshield replacement

Greg ... There is a difference in the frames; the screw position only allows the correct sun visor. I learn everything the hard way.

Your picture looks like a "road less traveled" (flooded). ...

    Re: Windshield replacement

Greg .... Installing a new windshield into the frame is a challenge. I use four ratchet straps to pull the frame in and a soft rubber mallet to encourage the glass and seal to seat. It is also good...

    Re: Windshield replacement

Greg .... Yes, I have hat several windshields out without removing the pillars. In my mind, removing the pillars is a last approach.

Re: Paint codes and door plate

Keith .... I can not find anything in my documentation for DB586. A Goggle search on "Mercedes 586" shows that the color is real but not when it was used by MB.

    Re: Glove box lock out

Try a locksmith. They are very good at opening locks without keys. If you can drive the car to the locksmith's shop, it will be much cheaper than trying to replace the lock.
  13. Re: Support Bracket for Windscreen Tension Rod ?

Alan .... Part number 14 attaches to the window frame and holds the front seal to the cowling. It goes under the mirror base and does not attach to the tension wire.

    Re: Carburetor mounting rubber flanges

Interesting...... I was not aware of the second spring washer. I'll use one next time and see how it works. Thanks for the info, always something to learn.

Re: New Store Item - Weber Adapter Plate

Rex .... I apologize for your plates missing the bolts. The alen bolts are "button head" which gives them a short head and the kit comes with "beeville" lock washers which are small and interesting.
  16. Re: Light bulb on steering column lock assembly?

I would noty install a bulb as it will be almost impossible to change the bulb if it burns out.

Re: New Store Item - Weber Adapter Plate

Rex .... The adapter plate comes with all of the "hardware" (bolts, nuts and washers) but no gaskets. It works well without gaskets as the pressure differential is very low.
  18. Re: New Member Benefit: Free Membership in Mercedes-Benz ClubCard Program

Paul .... The Mercedes Classic Magazine is an excellent read. The XEntry Portal also works well.

Thank you very much for your initiative in making these items available to the membership.
